Oprah, Reese, watch out. D&D is starting a book club! The name of our book club? Wait for it… Sunday Reads. Okay, perhaps not the most original title but we wanted to call out that understated kind of luxury. The kind of luxury that comes from crawling back into bed on Sunday afternoon to finish a chapter or two.

Now, for the spoiler alert, and the reason you’ll want to join our club...

In our Sunday Reads club, members get newly released books delivered complimentary (yep, for FREE) thanks to W&N Books. So, what’s the twist in this tale? We want your review, and to get the next book, you have to give us one - fair play.

Keep reading below for the instructions on how to join, chapter by chapter.

P.S. I hope you like all my booky puns. Annabel, our beloved book worm and lover of words is mortified.

According to the New York Times, book clubs should have a set of rules that govern what type of book will be read, how it will be chosen and a meeting spot. These rules felt like a bit of a mood kill, so in our book club, the only consideration is pleasure and ease.

So, how does our Book Club work?

Step 1: We are going to send the first 50 of you to sign up a newly released book specially selected by us with the help of Cait from W&N.Orion Books.

Step 2: In exchange, you’ll read the book and send us a review and a photo to sundayreads@desmondanddempsey.com and then pass the book on to someone who will love it.

Step 3: We will collate all of the reviews and publish them for the entire book club to see and share. If you fancy it, we will even host a little brunch for those wanting to get out of their D&Ds and chat in person.

Step 4: Once we have received your review (the good, the bad and the ugly) we will pop your name down to receive the next novel.

The first book we will be reading is Red at The Bone by Jacqueline Woodson, described by Cait at W&N Orion Books as “the book that’s got everyone talking” and by Annabel from our team as “a beautifully written story of the challenges and joys of family.”

To sign up, fill in the form below with your name, email, and home address. We will start gently nudging you for your review and find out if you’re interested in meeting for brunch on the 22nd of March.
