LEISURE LETTER Nº12
Editor of D&D’s Sunday Paper
BUONGIORNO!
Today’s Leisure Letter is short and sweet and a little bit Italian. Short and sweet, because we’ve* (*I’ve) got a Sunday Paper to finish. Italian, because after listening to Sinead Burke’s podcast with Angela and Margherita Missoni, I both am reckoning with the injustice of not being born into an Italian fashion dynasty and VERY into patterns again. Can you blame me? I want all the geometric things you have. I could never figure out why I was obsessed with the (TRAGICALLY DISCONTINUED, at least in red) Ikea stockholm rug, pictured here, but now it all makes sense. I also didn’t know that Missoni’s had a family cookbook! I haven’t needed a cookbook this bad since the Hotel Il Pelicano one. Will never get over that (clean! Natural! Mum’s first digital camera-style!) photography.
And speaking of Big Italian Hotel Energy: these pyjamas belong in the sultry bathroom of this Venetian one, and THESE pyjamas belong on its sun-drenched terrace (beneath a magical brolly like this one, sipping an aperitif from a hand blown speckled glass.)
(ALSO THIS TOOTHPASTE. Technically Portugese, but here for the packaging.)
If you want a little something to snack on, something less complicated than this, I cannot recommend this salad enough. Bright! Shalloty! Spring-like! Serve it on these plates! AND we wouldn’t be doing the (sort-of) theme justice without a playlist like this, would we? Any Italian meal can be a candlelit Italian dinner if you light some not-technically-Italian-but-deeply-chic candles, no?
I dream of being the type of person who can say ciao! and it not be painful for everyone involved, but alas that is simply not the case and so I will spare myself the humiliation and say: bye! Happy Sunday! x
