FUN AND SHAPES AND CHICKENS AND EGGS
This week’s theme is admittedly obtuse: fun and shapes and chickens and eggs and … red things? Many things. But, anyway, that doesn't matter. Nothing matters when you and Pheobe Waller-Bridge wear the same pyjamas. Which pyjamas? THESE pyjamas. The Sansindo Tiger print. (Kinda want it in the cuban set next.) It’s a classic D&D print, but as Mrs. Doubtfire (and me) says, the classics never die.
Anyway. Recs. THIS brilliant photo series feels like a more glamorous version of my current agenda, and the modern equivalent of Bruno Munari’s Seeking Comfort on an Uncomfortable Chair. And, if fawning over fancy chairs is something you like to do, might I direct you to the chic geniuses who made me realise that all the ones I own are a bit boring. ALSO: activities - it’s important to have referenceable hobbies these days, so as to not be derailed by that one unhinged colleague who continues to ask what you’ve been up to - as though you might have gone on holiday or kissed a stranger or walked around the block with your entire face showing - while I don’t have the attention span for puzzles, I have been wooed by the sensual font of this one . And, here’s a case for being less On The Internet. And!!! How cute is this gorgeous book by Manchester-based illustrator Maisy Summer!?
If you’re feeling a tad flat, please know that this assertive chicken plate believes in YOU!! But if it feels a little crass to eat your eggs off a chicken plate (especially such a supportive one one), here’s another option. Oh! And speaking of motivational chickens! Let us not forget this vigilant chook, (scroll down to #3 in the link!) who, strapped into her high-vis safety vest, (quite literally) crosses the road (ay!) to deliver her elderly neighbor an egg each day. And, speaking of eggs, today’s #GlamorousQuilt goes to not a quilt (!), but a quilt-ish graphic blanket reminiscent of sunny side up ones. And speaking of toast (were we speaking of toast?), please feast your gorgeous eyes upon THIS!! EXQUISITE!! TOASTER!!! It's more objet d’art than appliance, in my opinion, but TRAGICALLY (my loss is your gain) unavailable in the US - though to my great relief, this opalescent and randomly sort of matching to the toaster coup glass (presumably due to it not needing to be plugged in anywhere), is (available). As for other recs, I have admittedly no idea what THIS perfume smells like, but its bottle has the charisma of an actual cult leader and I want IN.
Also - here’s the ultimate playlist to wake up to and my current favourite podcast about all things books.
Okay that’s all from me.
Do as the chicken plate says and make today WONDERFUL.
Happy Sunday!
