OUR NEW YEAR HANGOVER CURES

We did it! We made it to 2020!

And although we can't deny our excitement for the year ahead, we also can't deny the ache in our heads from a night spent blissfully guzzling champagne to see in the New Year.

For all those suffering the aftermath of a night of hedonism and midnight smooching, here are a few tips from our Sunday Paper's Hangover Column to help you get through it.

"The only reliable hangover cure is jumping in the sea, but because I live in New York I just marinate in self-pity and salty food."

Samantha Hillman, foodie/writer/dinner party enthusiast.

"Boil rice in too much water and chicken stock. Then when cooked, drink the rice water. The starch in the water rejuvenates enormously."

Garrett Moore, Founder of Immersive Cult.

"My remedy these days is guzzling water, swallowing Advil and taking a shower before I go to sleep (that’s preventative!), then doing the same in the morning, add snacks."

Haley Nahman, Deputy Editor at Man Repeller.

"Breakfast. Going out for breakfast is one of the greatest luxuries I can think of; cooking breakfast (if you have everything set and available) can be just as rewarding. This focused energy on a basic need to luxuriate tends to divert my attention from the pain in my head."

Alex Evans, Co-founder of Behind This Wall, Hackney.

"A hangover is a real sign to me to take it easy and drink fizzy water and a big toasted cheese sandwich. Fat and carbs work for me and maybe a bloody Mary. I have never tried a natural remedy that worked so I avoid those completely."

Fiona Leahy of  Fiona Leahy Design.

"Solpadeine. You can buy it over the counter at Boots. It’s codeine, caffeine, and paracetamol all in one. A very dreamy buzz."

Frank Boxer, Founder of Frank's Café, Peckham.
